Privacy policy

COCOTIRES is the trade name of 1001699067 ONTARIO INC. We are an online-only store based in Ontario, Canada. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use cocotires.ca, why, and what choices you have. We follow Canada's privacy law (PIPEDA), Quebec's privacy law where it applies, and Canada's anti-spam law (CASL).

What we collect

• Your orders: name, email, phone number, shipping and billing address, and what you bought.
• Your payment: you pay through Stripe. Your card details go straight to Stripe. We never see or keep your full card number. We only receive the result of the payment and a reference.
• Your messages: what you write in the contact form or in an email to us.
• Your cart: items you add are kept in your browser. If you type your email at checkout and do not finish the order, we save your cart with your email so we can send you one reminder.
• Your email for the welcome offer: if you type your email in our welcome pop-up to get a discount code, we keep it to give you the code, send it to you, and send you news and offers. You can unsubscribe at any time.
• Your account (if you create one): name, email and your order history. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address from Google. We never see your Google password.
• Technical information: how the site is used (pages visited, what you search for, device and browser type, approximate location from the network address) and which ad or link brought you here.

Why we use it

• To take, ship and support your order, and to send emails about it (confirmation, tracking, refunds).
• To answer your questions and handle returns and warranty claims.
• To prevent fraud and keep the site secure.
• To understand how the site is used and to improve it.
• To measure and improve our advertising (see Advertising and analytics below).
• To send you news and offers, only if you said yes (for example by asking for the welcome code). You can say no or unsubscribe at any time.
• To follow the law.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share only what is needed, with companies that help us run the store:

• Payment: Stripe (and PayPal if offered).
• Delivery and suppliers: the tire and wheel suppliers and the carriers that ship your order (such as Canada Post, UPS and FedEx) get your name, address and phone number.
• Email: our email provider sends the emails you ask for and the ones about your order.
• Hosting and database: the services that run the website and keep our records (our database is hosted in Canada).
• Analytics and advertising: Google, Microsoft and Meta (see below).

Some of these companies keep data outside Canada, so it can be handled under the laws of another country. We also share information when the law requires it.

Advertising and analytics

We use analytics and advertising services from Google (Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics, Google Ads and Merchant Center), Microsoft (Microsoft Advertising) and Meta (Facebook and Instagram). Their tags and pixels on our site collect information about how you use the site (pages viewed, searches, cart activity) so we can count visits, measure our ads and show you relevant ads, including if you have visited us before.

When you place an order, we may send these platforms the order value and a click identifier, and your email address and phone number in hashed form (a one-way code, not the readable value). The platforms match it to their own users so we can measure the results of our ads, show our ads to existing customers, or leave them out. They do not receive your email or phone number in readable form from us.

We do not sell your personal information. You can opt out of advertising use at any time by writing to sales@cocotires.ca. Unsubscribing from marketing email does not by itself remove you from advertising use, so please tell us your request includes it. You can also change your ad choices in each platform's ad settings.

Cookies and similar tools

We use storage in your browser to keep your cart and sign-in. These essential cookies are always on. Analytics and advertising cookies, which count visits and measure ad results, are used only if you accept them in the cookie notice you see when you first visit. You can change your choice at any time, and you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The cart and sign-in may stop working if you block the essential ones.

How long we keep it

We keep order records as long as the law and our accounting need them, usually at least 6 years. Messages are kept as long as needed to help you. Marketing emails stop and your address is removed from the list when you unsubscribe.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us to see the personal information we hold about you, get a copy of it, correct it, or delete it where the law allows. You can withdraw your consent to marketing email or to advertising use at any time. Email sales@cocotires.ca and we will answer within 30 days.

Security

We protect your information with encrypted connections (HTTPS), restricted access and trusted providers. Card payments are handled by Stripe, which follows the card industry's security standard (PCI DSS). No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password and keep it private.

Links to other sites

The site may link to other websites. We are not responsible for how they handle your information, so please read their privacy policies.

Children

Our store is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version.
